Tackling the prevention of flooding at the National Flood Management Conference 2019

The National Flood Management Conference is a one-day CPD event that will take a closer look at management programmes and resources to support the control and prevention of flooding in Ireland. Taking place on 27th February at the Talbot Hotel, Stillorgan in Dublin, this event is an opportunity for those responsible for flood control to learn from an expert line up of speakers and exhibitors. Contributors to the conference will discuss developments in flood risk management, the impact of climate change, the establishment of the Flood Forecast Centre in Met Eireann, as well as examining case studies on flood schemes around the country.

We’re pleased to announce Murphy Surveys’ Commercial Manager, JP Kelly and Project Manager, Brendan Phelan will be speaking at 12 noon during the conference on ‘Advancements in Geospatial Data Capture for Flood Management’. Their presentation will include…

  • Importance of regular inspections and the digital documentation of high risk flood areas
  • Latest technological advances for capturing geospatial data for floor defences, live flood events and flood relief schemes including drone technology, robotics, CCTV and radar technology
  • Impact and importance of tracking and managing assets throughout their lifecycle
