Wishing Ciara ‘Good Luck’ as she jets off to Rio
The entire team at Murphy Surveys would like to wish Ciara Staunton the very best of luck as she jets off to Rio to represent Ireland in the 2016 Paralympics.
Originally from Batinglass, Ciara is representing Kilcullen Cycling Club (KCC) which is proudly sponsored by Murphy Surveys.
Murphy Surveys and KCC have had a close relationship throughout the years with the two joining forces to host the National Championships Time Trials in the company’s headquarters in Kilcullen in June of this year. Ciara competed in the Time Trial, which also featured Team Sky’s Nicolas Roche, where she earned a time of 67.39 in the 20km race.
The Paralympics have been something which Ciara strived for, in an interview with John O’Sullivan of The Irish Times she stated “Paralympics has been a real goal for me.In disability sport, it wasn’t about simply finding a sport that I liked. I wanted one in which I could compete at a high level and that is what directed me to handcycling.”
Ciara, who leads the World Cup standings, will take part in the Time Trial on September 13th with the Road Race to follow on the 14th. All of Kilcullen will be supporting Ciara in Rio and there will be a reception for her on her arrival back to Ireland.
Murphy Surveys can attest to the dedication of Kilcullen Cycling Club secretary Liam Walker and all those involved with KCC as the club has worked alongside Murphy Surveys on their annual ‘Cycle for Crumlin’, a charity cycle which raises funds for CMRF, the charity of Our Lady’s Hospital, Crumlin. This year’s cycle took place on July 23rd and was a success for all involved with over €10,000 being raised for the charity so far.
Time is on your side to help the firm raise more funds for the hospital with donations still being accepted online and the firm will be launching a very special fundraising competition in the coming weeks. Make sure you keep an eye on Twitter @murphy_surveys, Facebook and Murphy Surveys’ website for details.
