Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to work as a Surveyor in the Laser Scanning department supporting day to day tendering of works & projects in a competent, timely & efficient manner. Incumbents will be required to have expert knowledge of the services Murphy Surveys provides & to ensure that the organisation delivers a professional service at all times.

Key Accountabilities

  • Adopt the company’s surveying standards
  • Collaborate with the surveying team and with the survey manager
  • Deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Take on a supervisory role of surveyor responsible (SR) on projects from time to time ensuring your survey crew work in the most efficient and productive manner
  • You are responsible for the accuracy and final product/delivery of your survey even if you are not involved in the processing of the data
  • Communicate with the client
  • Read and understand the specification
  • Understand the scope of work
  • Ensure only the required equipment is used on site. (discuss equipment requirements with scheduler at the end of the day if requirement changes)
  • Decide on the best course of action on site to carry out the survey most efficiently
  • Inform scheduler if additional time is needed on site well in advance
  • Ensure job diary is filled out each day on the internal job tracking system, Kboss
  • Keeps accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performed
  • Ensure final drawing has been checked by a “checker”
  • Ensure final drawing is sent to client (email, post, collection) and that they received it

Requirements

  • Relevant degree qualification (Surveying, Geomatics or similar)
  • 5+ years of experience (be technically trained in all aspects of laser scanning and surveying)
  • Comfortable with the standard outputs and deliverables in Measured Building & Land Surveying
  • Confident and comfortable using the latest technology (Leica and Z+F hardware, Leica Cyclone software)
  • Understanding Scopes of work and project requirements
  • Ability to work with autonomy or as part of a team
  • Enjoy learning new software applications
  • Have strong knowledge of current CAD technology
  • Possess strong understanding of common industry practices
  • Have excellent communication, skills
  • Be a problem solver with a positive attitude
  • Set high standards for themselves and their services
  • Possess superior organizational and time management skills
  • Have a full driving licence
  • Be flexible to work in Ireland and U.K.

Salary – Salary will depend on experience and skill base.
