Job Purpose

The main responsibility of this role will be to ensure that the field teams deliver the projects efficiently thus, enabling project delivery to clients on time and on budget. Most importantly this must be done in accordance with the standards that Murphy Surveys commit to deliver.

Key Accountabilities

Project Management Tasks

  • Job briefing of survey teams
  • Responding to technical issues from field personnel
  • Responding to client technical queries regarding delivered projects
  • Developing and maintaining increased efficiency within the field for the Survey Department
  • Management of field and technical aspect of all projects allocated to the department
  • Management of survey scope in multidisciplinary projects and coordinating with relevant parties
  • Provide schedule and progress reports to Survey Department Manager
  • Problem solving solutions to ensure deadlines and budgets are maintained, escalating where necessary
  • Implement quality procedures and protocols for the department and modify if necessary
  • Ensure client work is delivered to the highest quality standards and any deviations are rectified with haste and learnings incorporated through after-action reviews
  • Ensure accuracy of all information that is reported on the project management system

Personnel Management responsibilities

  • Manage, develop and motivate staff team including surveyors, assistants and processors

Safety & Resources Management Responsibilities

  • Ensure all department employees have completed company induction and all necessary safety training required
  • Ensure company safety procedures are adhered to:
    • PPE compliance, Vehicle checklists, SPA, etc.
  • Ensure all project specific safety documentation is in place and available to the survey team

Survey sub-contractor Management

  • Management of remote processing teams
  • Assign processing projects to sub-contractors – ensure that the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the department is optimised


  • Review costs and outgoings to ensure the correct department allocation is made
  • Strive to seek and implement continuous efficiencies in our processes
  • Provide Technical support for BID Manager


  • Support innovation of work flows and technology
  • Provide input and support to other departments are they seek to implement improvements that will benefit the Company


  • 5+ years’ experience of leading teams and strong coaching skills
  • Geomatics or Civil Engineering degree level
  • Hold a full driving licence
  • Skills that enable collaboration and communication, including the use of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively
  • Action oriented and self – directed, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Commercially savvy with good financial understanding
  • Time & Priority management skills across several projects and tasks simultaneously
