What are Utility Surveys?

Often the geographic location of utilities such as pipes, cables, ducts, sewers, foul and surface water drainage is recorded on inferior quality maps and in some cases it is not documented at all.

We use cutting edge technologies including Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) to detect, trace and map all of the information. We also provide highly accurate surveying of markings using Global Positioning Systems (GPS) or optical total stations. The detailed use of our range of survey solutions, enable us to provide you with a complete picture both above and below the ground. This combined with detailed survey data, is used to make utility maps or overlays for geographic information systems (GIS).
In accordance with the requirements of our clients, Murphy Surveys can perform detailed manhole surveys, examining areas such as cover and invert levels, chamber size, shaft size, pipe diameters, flow direction and inter-connectivity. Such surveys will also provide information on the overall condition of the manhole.
