Survey Package for Construction of Terminal 2, Dublin Airport

Survey Package for Construction of Terminal 2, Dublin Airport

About This Project

Client Requirement

Terminal 2 is a major extension to the existing terminal that included a 75,000 m sq (810,000 sq ft) terminal and pier, which provides 19 air bridges for aircraft and is capable of handling 15 million passengers annually. Due to the complexity of the project, an integrated survey programme was required including:

– A master-plan control network with the highest tolerances.
– A complete topographic survey of the airside and landside covering the full site to facilitate integration of the new with the old.
– Facades and elevations survey.
– Sub-surface utility detection with GPR.

Solution

Multiple teams worked around the clock to minimize the impact on the airport activity. The nature of the site presented some challenges such as special access that was required to restricted areas, and a high volume of pedestrian and vehicle traffic.

Murphy Surveys is experienced working in similar environments. Airside passes were provided with special training to attend the site, whilst ensuring safe practices were adhered to. Security clearance allowed our surveyors to move onto and off site at short notice and with speed.

The project was delivered within the required project time frame with all deliverables meeting the project specification in terms of accuracy, completeness and client expectation.
