3D Data Managers
Quality survey data forms the real foundation of any project. This data will be used by all stakeholders for the entire project life cycle and beyond.
As the construction phase of a project progresses, regular validation of the data is also essential. Our highly experienced staff use an array of survey methodologies and the most modern equipment available to provide the best 3D data management solutions for your project.
The first stage of an effective 3D BIM project is to establish a precise survey control network. This is the only way to ensure the accuracy of all 3D data captured and to bring a project to a successful conclusion within the required design tolerances. An accurate site control network which is regularly checked, maintained and updated during the project life-cycle will greatly reduce the risk of dimensional errors. All stakeholders and contractors must work in one coordinate system to ensure that the BIM is accurately created, maintained, validated and updated with consistency.
Following validation of the model, survey data capture can commence. This can be done using many different survey techniques and technologies. There are multiple ways of capturing data (below, on and above ground) which in turn can be combined to create a data rich and accurate 3D deliverable.
- Below Ground – Subsurface Utility, GPR Surveys and Verification Services
- On Ground – Topographical and Building Surveys using Laser Scanning, GPS and Measured Building Surveys
- Above Ground – Surveys using UAV/ Drone technology
Murphy Surveys can capture, produce and then manage all such survey data on your project and combine it into one common deliverable.
Surveying Our High-Tech World
Our clients often have varied and sometimes unique survey, data capture and hosting requirements. The innovative use of cutting edge technologies at Murphy Surveys allows us to provide solutions to these requirements, guaranteeing a consistently high standard across our services, with no equal in the marketplace.
Our highly skilled and experienced surveyors use the latest surveying technology to deliver quality surveys which are ‘fit for purpose’. Working on the most prestigious projects across Munster and beyond we are proud of our long running association with some of the world’s largest pharmaceutical and high-tech companies. With full ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 accreditation and €12 million Professional Indemnity Cover we are immediately ready to mobilise to any complex project environment.
We have used 3D laser scanning technology for over 15 years and developed our own “in house” processing workflows to produce clear noise free data. Using this data, we also produce 3D Revit or 3D AutoCAD models and have staff available to manage and coordinate these models on site as your project evolves.

Proposed M28 Cork to Ringaskiddy Motorway
Murphy Surveys recently carried out a full aerial survey of the proposed M28 route for Cork County Council.
The aerial imagery will be used during the public consultation stages and will provide a fully immersive experience for all stakeholders interested in visualising the plans.
The digital terrain model generated from the aerial survey will also provide valuable information to the road designers during the design stage.
