Murphy Surveys launches new Vehicle Safety App during Construction Safety Week
This week is Construction Safety Week, an initiative organised by the Construction Safety Partnership Advisory Committee (CSPAC) to highlight health and safety in the Irish construction industry. As part of this week-long series of events and activities we’re excited to launch our new Vehicle Safety App.
At Murphy Surveys we’re committed to raising the standards of health and safety in our industry to safeguard our staff, clients and members of the public. As part of this commitment we’re continually looking at ways in which we can strengthen our existing processes, and over the past 6 months our in-house Innovation department team have developed a new Vehicle Safety App. The app is aimed at our surveyors and guides the driver through a comprehensive yet straightforward checklist, allowing them to identify and raise any safety issues with our vehicle fleet digitally via their smartphones. Any vehicle issues raised are collated into an action task list for efficient maintenance of the fleet. This allows a regular and thorough check of our fleet of 70 vehicles. The app is in use and we’ve already reported the number of vehicle issues has decreased steadily over the past few months. With an efficient way to report and track issues we can identify and resolve queries much more effectively than before, helping us to maintain the condition of our vehicle fleet for the continued safety of our staff.
“Our surveyors work nationwide, across a wide range of different landscapes and construction sites, and with such a large fleet of vehicles it’s critical that we can detect and rectify issues immediately,” comments Niall Murphy, Managing Director Murphy Surveys Ireland. “At Murphy Surveys we foster a culture and environment where we put safety first and the app is just one example of how we’re innovating to raise the standard of health and safety. As part of this we’re also proud to be internationally recognised through our work with the OHSAS 18001 certification in occupational, health and safety management system.”
Construction Safety Week runs from 22 – 26 October and organised by CSPAC which is made up of the main stakeholders in the construction sector in Ireland, including employers, unions, state bodies (in conjunction with the Health & Safety Authority) and professional bodies.
The Vehicle Safety App has been rolled out throughout the company in Ireland and plans to launch in the UK in the coming months.
