Murphy Surveys Traffic Management

Murphy Surveys Health & Safety leaders with our in-house traffic management systems

When working on or around our road network, traffic management is an important element of a surveying project, not only from a safety perspective, but also in minimising disruption to the local community. Murphy Surveys offer traffic management as part of our service on all surveying projects. Our personnel are trained in traffic management as well as being surveyors and have the expertise to engage knowledgeably with our clients and provide them with peace of mind regards working on roads and with traffic management.

Murphy Surveys have developed robust company procedures for surveying roads, utilising temporary traffic management systems when and if required. These temporary traffic management systems are designed in-house prior to any surveying work commencing. Our road surveying teams are trained in CSCS Signing, Lighting and Guarding and CSCS Health & Safety at Roadworks. This training allows them to install, maintain and remove the temporary traffic management systems before, during and upon completion of the road surveying operations.

As we offer a wide range of surveying services they all require different approaches when designing the temporary traffic management system. For example, topographical surveying of a road can be done reflectorlessly from the footpath negating the need for surveyors to access the ‘live’ road. Alternatively, when manhole surveying, there is a requirement to close a lane whilst the survey is being done. Our in-house service allows for quicker turnaround as we do not have to involve a traffic management subcontractor for most surveying projects.

When surveying on or near roads, Murphy Surveys always strive to meet best practice by adhering to the provisions of the Traffic Signs Manual, Chapter 8 and the Guidance for the Control and Management of Traffic at Road Works. We assess the risks involved to personal health and safety for our personnel and other road users.
