Raymond Murphy joined the company in 1999, when he graduated from the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT). His passion and vision for the surveying industry was recognised early on by his peers, and he was awarded “Top Geomatics Graduate” by the Irish Institution of Surveyors (IIS). Raymond was at the forefront of integrating the IIS into the Society Chartered Surveyors Ireland, and is now Chairman of the Geomatics Group of the SCSI.

Raymond is responsible for client relationships, overall company sales, strategic direction, innovation and the technical approach of Murphy Surveys. He ensures that throughout the growth of the company, our client-centered approach and dedication to excellence are not compromised. Known in the industry for his expertise, he is regularly called upon as a keynote speaker.

Niall Murphy

Niall Murphy BSc Geomatics, MSCSI, MRICS
Managing Director

Upon graduating in 2004 with a degree in Geomatics, Niall Murphy joined his brothers in a rapid growth phase of the company’s development. Niall has a propensity for challenging ideas and a strong background in surveying, that includes project management experience on several large-scale projects. He has a passion for business and people and has been at the forefront of the company’s growth.

As Managing Director, Niall oversees the management of the company’s day to day activities. He also ensures the company is implementing its strategy and objectives. As the aims of business are focused towards growth, profits and increasing shareholder return it is the responsibility of the MD to ensure that the company strategy is geared towards this. He is responsible for leading, coaching and mentoring the senior team and supporting their professional development.

Colin Murphy

Colin Murphy Cert. Geo. Surv.
Development Director

Colin Murphy graduated from DIT in 1995. As Development Director for Murphy Surveys, he has proven his tenacity in building our now very successful UK business by leveraging key relationships and contacts within and outside of the surveying industry. He is responsible for implementing our UK development strategy and is now spearheading the launch of further new locations.

Colin is responsible for the development of long-term relationships with clients across the UK such as Crossrail, Thames Water, Mace Group and Cluttons. Colin has an outreach role in the company.

As Development Director Colin is concerned with the growth of the company and maximising Murphy Surveys profitability and profile.

Billy Roche BEng (Hons.)
Operations Director

After completing a BEng (Hons.) in Civil Engineering, Billy worked on several energy generation projects in Ireland and in countries including Bosnia and Herzegovina, Israel, Latvia and Australia. During this time, he has developed his management capabilities while also completing an MSc in Project and Programme Management at the University of Limerick, one of only seven PMI GAC-accredited programmes in Europe.

Joining Murphy Surveys as project manager in 2015, Billy brings a wealth of national and international project management experience to the role of Operations Director. His primary focus is managing the operational effectiveness of the organisation, ensuring the appropriate resources and capabilities are in place to deliver projects and supporting the strategic growth path of the organisation.

David Graham

David Graham Dip Geo Surv. MSCSI, MRICS
Associate Director

David Graham manages the geophysical, utility and oil/gas mapping division of the company. Upon graduating in 1999 David spent seven years as Senior Surveyor with the Murphy Surveys, working mostly on projects in the utilities sector for clients such as Bord Gais.

With his success in project management and client-relationship development, David took over the management of the department. His experience managing prestigious projects worldwide for semi-state, private and multinational joint-venture companies enables his effective leadership of this area of the business.
