Irish National Hydrology Conference 2014

Irish National Hydrology Conference 2014

Murphy Surveys will attend the 15th National Hydrology Conference in Tullamore Court Hotel, Tullamore, Co Offaly on Tuesday 11th November 2014. This event provides a unique forum for attendees to share policy developments, research results, and practical solutions to engineering hydrology issues. The theme of this year’s conference is “Whose water is it anyway? – Integrated Water Management in Ireland – Governance, Politics, and Economics”.

This year’s conference will examine the challenges facing how we manage our water resources in the coming years. There are a number of European Union Directives that set out the approach for managing individual water resources, but there are still varying opinions as to how these resources can be all managed in an integrated and cohesive manner. Discussions will focus on past and present experiences on this subject, both in Ireland and abroad. There will also be discussions on various proposals for integrated water management from the points of view of governance, politics and economics. Topics include:

  • River Basin Management
  • Groundwater Resource Management
  • Climate Change
  • Water Quality Management
  • Eco-hydrology and Environmental Issues
